IRC Meeting Servers
The following server is currently home to the HKW monthly meetings:

• irc.enterthegame.com
• Port 6667
• Channel #HKW

HKW Chat
HKW offers {several choices} for connecting to our IRC server: irc.enterthegame.com which includes Web Chat and Windows applications.

The IRC Server offers web chat at the following address: http://www.enterthegame.com/chat.asp

jIRC (HKW Web Chat)
If you have trouble connecting, there are several possibilities:

• IMPORTANT NOTE: To ensure your computer is secure as possible, make sure you download the latest Java runtime.
• You are using a very old version of IE or Netscape. Only IE4 or above and Netscape 4.08 or above is supported by jIRC applet.
• When the popup window first appears and asks for granting permission, the user denies the request. Without such permission, the applet will not be able to connect to any IRC servers around the world. It can only connect to the host the applet was downloaded from.
• Some IRC servers deny connection from some ISP domains( due to abuse or flooding coming from that domain). For example, some IRC servers do not allow AOL users to connect.
• Some browsers allow users to modify its Internet Security Setting, if you are not using the default security setting and disable the support of signed applet, jIRC may not work properly. If this is the case, revert the security to default level.

Windows Clients
Below are instructions for connecting with some of the popular Windows IRC chat clients.

mIRC (by brother Venatir)
When you start up mIRC you have a screen that will appear with several options to go through.

The first option is the Connect tree (which will be the only one you really need to use). Here you can put in your name you want displayed an email address if you so desire and a connect to server button among other things.

Right below Connect if you expand it you will have servers. Click on that and here you get to select the IRC network and Server you will connect to. Where it says IRC Network there is a drop down menu scroll through that until you find Enterthegame that is the Network you want. Right below IRC Network you will see another dropdown menu titled IrC Server for me atleast it only lists Enterthegame : random server. If it has more for you that's ok it really doesnt matter much what you pick as they will all connect to Enterthegame and you will be able ot access the hkw channel.

Now in the expanded tree underneath Servers there is Options, open that and enter the proper port info which I believe is 6667

Once you do all that you are ready to go. Go back to the connect section and click the connect to server button. It might take a few tries but once you connect to the server type /j #hkw and boom you are in the HKW channel.
